Basement kitchen with approx. 1600 Delft blue tiles
Dating: 17-20th century

Treatment

  • Inventory of damage

  • Dismantling loose tiles

  • Removal of mortar residue from tiles and walls

  • Desalination of tiles and walls

  • Surface cleaning

  • Consolidation of fragile tile surface

  • Filling in gaps

  • New installation tiles

  • Color retouching

Different phases of treatment were carried out between 2019 and 2023, as a student during the Conservation-Restoration course (University of Antwerp), as a job student (University of Antwerp) and as a volunteer.
